The Weekend Edit

I know its still August, but the constant rain around my parts is making me long for winter weekends with pub lunches and river side walks. My solution? Plan what I am going to buy to wear this Autumn! I love the standard knitted jumper/jeans/boots combination thats so easy to do!

Firstly find your knit. I love slouchey styles with a silky camisole underneath to stop any itchyness.

1. Lucas Nascimento, Mesh Jaquard Sweatshirt
2. Isabel Marant, Ilene Boiled Wool Top
3. Maxmara, Nido Sweater
4. Helmut Lang Caged Boucle Pullover
5. Piazza Sempione, Jumper
6. Boy By Band Of Outsiders, Chunky Cable Pullover

Then find your bottoms. In the milder months leggings are perfect.

1. MOTO, Wine Acid Leigh Jeans
2. Paige Denim, Hoxton Skinny Jeans
3. MOTO, Baxter Jeans
4. Topshop, Leggings

Now it wouldnt be a weekend walk without some heafty durable boots! I like to think that once given a bit of leather protection spray these styles would withstand the mud, but to be honest for the type of mud I'm imagining treking through, only Hunters will do!

1. Steve Madden
2. Burberry
3. Hunters
4. Russell and Bromley

Last step is to add in that wolly hat and gloves that must be lounging in the depths of your cuboards waiting for the first frosts to come!

3. Mulberry

5. Maison Michel

Black and a lil White

You know you love it. I always think to myself I need a bit more colour poking out of my wardrobe but without fail will graduate towards black.

I tried not buying black at all.

Yeah, that wasnt going to happen.

So next phase is to try buying peices with white detailing (hopefully without looking like a waitress..my table serving days are over for now!).

Definitely the investment peice has to be the Givenchey folded miniskirt..how amazing would that look with a simple black polo top..?!

Needle and Thread

A little while ago, in the midst of exam fever, one of my favourite bloggers - The Londoner - blogged about this dress from Needle and Thread. My graduation ball was over 4 months away, and with a month of exams standing between me and freedom, attendence was by no means certain.

But the amount of time between spotting this dress and purchase was all of 30 seconds.

When it arrived I literally was in love.

Since then I've lusted after nearly every single peice from Needle and Thread. Created by Hannah Coffin (Previously of All Saints fame..need I go on), the first collection featured exclusively on ASOS with subsequent offerings to be found at Selfridges.

Here's my pick of my favourite peices currently available!

Olsens for BIK BOK

Is there actually anyone more stylish than the Olsen twins? What they they have done with 'The Row' and 'Elizabeth and James' is only rivalled by literally everything Victoria Beckam creates in terms of  sucessful U-turns in career direction. Although I unashamedly do love 'New York Minute', the Olsen twins Autumn/Winter collection for Bik Bok probably tops it. Just.

Kind of like the Topshop of Norway, Ashley and Mary-Kate have created a line perfect for the high street..so if you want to channel their look check it out at Bik Bok's website.

& Other Stories

A couple of months ago I discovered potentially the most dangerous shop in terms of the damage it will undoubtedly do to my monthly ‘shopping fund’ (already much larger than it ought to be!). One of my best friends is Swedish and I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve asked myself how does she just look so effortlessly cool all the bloody time?

So as a long term admirer of Scandinavian-chic I took a trip to central London to visit the new UK branch of Swedish store & Other Stories. From the people behind Cos (and also H&M although you wouldn’t know), the clothes by & Other Stories are absolutely beautiful and allow you to tap into the structural simplicity of Scandinavian style.

The layout of the shop is refreshingly devoid of the clutter you can find in huge flagship stores with the feel and look of a spacious designer presentation room. From makeup to lingerie, no piece is what it seems at first glance with clever cut out details making basic stable wardrobe items really special.

After taking half the store to the changing room and leaving with heaving bags, I continued to trawl through their website and discovered so much more!
